Asia University SDGs Declaration

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are international goals that aim for a sustainable and better world by 2030, listed in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015. Goal. Aiming to realize a society where "no one will be left behind", not only governmental organizations but also all actors in society are expected to play an active role.

Our educational philosophy is to develop human resources who can contribute to the development of Japan and Asia. We believe that the role we play in the international community, especially in Asian countries and regions, where there are various problems and challenges such as poverty, human rights, and the environment, is significant.

We hereby declare that Asia University will start working on what we can do now and contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.

Asia University practices its founding spirit of "the spirit of Self-help and Cooperation" and its mission of "cultivating human resources who will contribute to the development and peace of the international community, particularly in the Asian region." We develop human resources who will contribute to the SDGs in the international community.
We actively engage in educational and research activities aimed at solving problems and issues such as poverty, human rights, and the environment in Asian countries and regions.
By collaborating with all stakeholders surrounding the university, we will fulfill the social role of working on the SDGs.

What are SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)?

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) refer to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015 as the successor to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) established in 2001. It is an international goal aiming for a sustainable and better world by 2030. Consisting of 17 goals and 169 targets, it pledges to “leave no one behind” on earth. The SDGs are universal, not only for developing countries, but also for developed countries themselves, and Japan is also actively working on them.

Initiative example

SDGs mock class held for junior and senior high school students

On June 16th, we held an SDGs mock class for high school students. On the day, 40 students from Urawa Jitsugyo High School participated, and Associate Professor KOBARI Yoshihiro of Faculty of International Relations gave Lecture on the theme of ``Language research in the Philippines - From the Perspective of SDGs.''
