Regarding the use of generation AI tools (basic policy)
Asia University President Nagatsuna Kengo

As you know, advanced generative AI such as ChatGPT is currently developing rapidly. Generative AI is a tool that, if used appropriately, has the potential to enhance your learning effectiveness. On the other hand, if used incorrectly, various negative effects may occur. Therefore, we would like to inform you that our university has established the following basic policy regarding the use of generative AI tools. Please be careful when completing your summer vacation assignments.

1. Prioritize instruction in class

The extent to which generative AI is allowed to be used varies greatly depending on the nature of the class and the teaching method of each instructor. Therefore, the university will not impose a blanket ban or blindly promote its use, but will give priority to instructions given in each class. All students, please follow the instructor's instructions.

2. General notes

Based on the above premise, there are general points to be aware of when using generative AI, and it is important to be aware of them. Below are three main points to keep in mind.

(1) Beware of false information
Generative AI presents appropriate answers to the questions you ask. However, there is no guarantee that the answer is correct. Furthermore, there is no guarantee that the answers to the assignments and questions posed by instructors are appropriate. Therefore, if the answers generated by the generated AI are submitted as a report without any examination, there is a high possibility that the report will contain false information or misplaced statements, and as a result, the report will be disqualified. Please be careful about this point.

(2) Beware of plagiarism
Using the generated AI's answer results as if they were created by you is plagiarism and, in some cases, copyright infringement. Of course, this will not lead to deepening your own learning. Even in classes where the use of generative AI is permitted, for example, it is necessary to indicate in which part of the report it was used. In general, when creating papers, reports, etc., absolutely avoid copying the generated AI answers, value your own thoughts and ideas in terms of content, and in terms of format, please follow the traditional methods such as clearly indicating the source. Please take action.

(3) Be careful about information leaks
The information you input into the generation AI will be stored in the generation AI and may be reused somewhere. If you enter personal or confidential information, it will be leaked to the outside world. You also need to be careful about this point.

The above is the university's instructions at this stage. If further precautions are required in the future, we will contact you again. In any case, when using various convenient tools through the Internet, always examine the authenticity of the information provided and do not forget the essence of studying at university, which is to think using your own head. Please make sure to use it appropriately.
that's all
