Junior College

The Junior College consists of the following two departments: (1) The Department of Business Administration, which offers extended general subjects in regard to corporate management, such as the study of business administration, accounting-related subjects, such as bookkeeping as well as practical subjects such as spreadsheet exercises; (2) The Department of Modern Town Business, which aims to help students who have already acquired the knowledge of business administration acquire expert knowledge on products and services as well as communication skills that are required for professionals in the retail business.

Department of Business Administration

The Department of Business Administration in the Junior College offers further general subjects with regard to corporate management, such as the study of business administration, accounting subjects such as bookkeeping and accounting, as well as practical-based subjects such as spreadsheet exercises. Under the establishment of the Business Administration Course and the Corporate Accounting Course, students are required to enroll in the same seminar for two years. Students can take various elective subjects, such as foreign language subjects that aim for students’ deeper understanding of different cultures and Business Literacy Classes that aim to assist students with employment placement. The goal of the Department of Business Administration is to foster individuals, with practical skills and abundant sensitivity, who can immediately play an active role in society. The Department of Business Administration also shows a flexible attitude toward students seeking to transfer to a four-year university.

1. Strongly supporting students in gaining qualifications

The Junior College assists students in improving their careers. Through classes, it offers support in preparing students to pursue different qualifications such as The Official Business Skill Test in Bookkeeping (Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry), The Official Business Skill Test in Selling (Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry), and the Information Processing Application Proficiency.

2. Study abroad programs and foreign language classes with an aim to strengthen understanding of different cultures

In addition to the Study Abroad Program of the Asia University Global Program (AUGP) in which students can choose to study at one of 14 colleges in 13 regions of the world, we offer six foreign language classes to students in order to improve their linguistic capabilities.

3. A transfer system for students belonging to the Department of Business Administration within the Junior College

Students with high grades in the Department of Business Administration can transfer to another Faculty in Asia University. The credits that were earned in the Junior College will be counted toward the credits required for graduation in the Faculty to which they are transferring.

Department of Modern Town Business

A town refers to a place where people’s daily lives take place. In the Department of Modern Town Business, students specifically learn about retail business which takes place within the town. According to the tradition of the Department of Business Administration in the Junior College, after acquiring the knowledge of business administration, students will acquire expertise knowledge on products and services as well as communication skills that are required for professionals in the retail business. The Department of Modern Town Business aims to foster professionals with abilities to not only understand the expectations and demands of consumers, but also propose a new lifestyle by evaluating the future of the consumer society.

1. Developing communication abilities that serve as the basis of Modern Town Business

We aim to foster individuals who are receptive towards the expectations and demands of contemporary lives, and to strengthen their communication abilities in both Japanese and English.

2. Gaining basic business skills and professional manners through extensive workplace experience

Through cooperation from different companies and organizations, the department will implement internships and workplace experience. The students will have many opportunities to learn from actual professionals and they will gain a basic understanding of business skills and professional manners.

3. Qualification program with strong links between formal and extracurricular classes

The department is equipped with an efficient double-school system. This is a study program where students can take formal class subjects and extracurricular qualification classes on the same campus. The Junior College fully supports students preparing to acquire a range of qualifications while they are in school.
