The spread of Japanese hospitality
ASADA Mayu
浅田真由01
I learned that the most important thing in running a hotel is to create a homely atmosphere where customers can feel trust, security, safety, cleanliness, and familiarity. I also learned that culture has the power to spread the world, as the Japanese spirit of hospitality is accepted in foreign countries and traditional Japanese culture is spreading around the world and is an important value for Taiwanese hotel companies. I believe that the background to the great influence of Japanese culture on Taiwan is related to the history between Japan and Taiwan, and I was able to feel closer to Taiwan's history by visiting tourist sites and historical buildings.

The essence of hospitality learned from "I want to work overseas"
FUKUI Sena

At first, I participated in Multicultural Internship for the vague reason that I wanted to work overseas, but it was an experience that really made me feel the appeal of working in a foreign land like Taiwan. At the hotel where I was assigned, I learned a lot about hospitality from the staff, including the company president, Xu Yinshu, who is a graduate of Asia University, and learned that the key to hospitality is the homely atmosphere that can be felt in a hotel. It was also a valuable experience to enjoy the retro Chinese streets and Taiwanese cuisine in a region that is popular as a tourist destination. I feel that I was able to learn about the charms of Taiwan through the internship.

The Taiwan internship was a valuable opportunity to learn a lot about Taiwan. The hotel where I was assigned was a hotel that provided services for Japanese people, so they were very interested in us Japanese people, and even though we came to Taiwan to work, we had many opportunities to feel the hospitality of the staff there. Even when we went out into the city, we received a lot of friendly and warm service, and we were able to live a life that blended into the retro and local atmosphere of Taiwan, and this internship made me love Taiwan even more.

By participating in this internship, I was able to have experiences that I would not have been able to get through a normal study abroad program. In particular, being able to work as a hotelier overseas was a valuable experience. Although the environment was similar to Japan, I was also able to experience Taiwanese culture firsthand.

Learning and meeting new people in Phuket

I did an internship as a Japanese language teacher's assistant in Phuket, Thailand for one month. I was in charge of a wide range of classes at a junior high and high school, and was able to learn a lot from various perspectives. The students were full of energy and talked to me every day, so I felt the reward of being a teacher and was able to experience the charm of being a Japanese language teacher. I was also able to learn about Thai culture and values while actually spending time there, and since Phuket is a tourist destination, I was able to deepen my interactions with travelers from various countries. This month, where I met many people, was a valuable experience for me, and I feel that it was really good that I went.

Working with foreigners
TAKAHASHI Natsumi
髙橋夏海01
I spent a month in a place where Japan and Thailand work together, and I experienced the difficulties and joys of language and cultural differences. I was inspired by seeing how the language used differs depending on the situation, such as in the workplace, with business partners, and with customers, and this has increased my motivation to study languages. What surprised me the most was that my Japanese boss said that culture, rather than language, is a barrier when working together. I believe that no matter what industry I work in in the future, I will have more opportunities to work with foreigners than I do now. I learned that the most important thing in these situations is language skills that are useful and an understanding of different cultures.

Discovering unexpected advantages
SUGI Yuho

By actually doing business in Cambodia, I was able to discover an unexpected strength. At the end of each day's activities, there was a time called "1 ball, 2 strikes," where members would discuss two good points and one area for improvement from the day's activities. There, I was praised for my "listening skills" and given the advice, "I have an idea that will be a breakthrough, so I want you to speak with more confidence." I usually focus on listening carefully to what others say, but I was not confident in my own ability to speak, so being praised by a third party led to my confidence and improved my self-esteem not only in the business world but also in my daily life. This international internship was a turning point in my thinking about my life.
