This time, we interviewed An Takagi, a first-year student in the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Faculty of Business Administration. Ms. Takagi utilized the observational and expressive skills she cultivated in Photography Club during high school to fully convey her individuality in her self-introduction and interview during the public recommendation entrance examination, and successfully gained admission. We spoke with her in detail about how she prepared, her feelings on the day of the exam, and how she overcame her nervousness.

I'd like to hear about your experience taking entrance exams.
Q1. Please tell us the type and content of the entrance examination you took.
I took the public recommendation entrance exam. I had previously tried the comprehensive selection exam, but I was unsuccessful. My exam strategy was to take the comprehensive selection exam first, then the public recommendation exam, so I switched my approach and took the public recommendation entrance exam again.
Q2. Why did you choose that entrance examination method?
The public recommendation-based entrance examination is a method of admission that evaluates academic performance and achievements in extracurricular activities during high school, and I felt that I could effectively convey my past efforts and achievements through the self-introduction sheet. In particular, I thought that my achievements in winning the joint Japan-China-Korea Photography Club competition would be a strong point in this type of admission.
Q3. What were your reasons for choosing your current faculty?
I've been interested in entrepreneurship since junior high school, and I wanted to major in business administration at university. However, there were few Faculty of Business Administration at local universities, so my options were limited. With future employment in mind, I decided to apply to the Department Faculty of Business Administration Administration Asia University.
Please tell me about strategies and preparations for the entrance exam.
I took the public recommendation entrance exam. I had previously tried the comprehensive selection exam, but I was unsuccessful. My exam strategy was to take the comprehensive selection exam first, then the public recommendation exam, so I switched my approach and took the public recommendation entrance exam again.

My high school was proactive in providing interview preparation, and I received cooperation not only from my homeroom teacher but also from teachers I didn't usually interact with. I considered the advice from various perspectives, carefully examined which points to incorporate, and repeatedly reviewed and improved my expression and the content of my answers.
Furthermore, in order to accurately understand the type of student the university and faculty are looking for, I thoroughly read the admissions policy and diploma policy, and also deeply research the university's philosophy and educational policies. Based on this, I created my self-introduction sheet.
In addition, since academic performance is also important in the public recommendation-based entrance exam, I diligently studied at school. In my third year of high school, I also aimed to obtain qualifications and obtained the Eiken Pre-2nd Grade certification.

There are so many distractions at home, so I found I could concentrate better by changing my environment and studying in a place where there were other people around. I went to a nearby cafe and studied while listening to my favorite playlist.
Q6. What were some of the difficulties you faced while studying for the entrance exam?
After failing the comprehensive selection process, and seeing my classmates pass one after another, I went through a period of feeling depressed and anxious.
