Through preparing for public recommendation-based admissions, I confronted my weakness in "writing."
This is a unique department not found at other universities, where you can learn creativity and management.

Q1. Please tell us the type of entrance examination you took and the subjects you took.
This was a public recommendation-based entrance exam. The format involved submitting a pre-assignment and a statement of purpose, followed by an interview. The pre-assignment was an essay, requiring me to write about my thoughts on data science within a limit of 800 characters.

Q2. Why did you choose that particular entrance examination method, and what was the reason for your choice?
When I visited the open campus, I learned that there was a public recommendation-based admission method. I wasn't very good at writing essays, but I was the captain of my high school club, so I was somewhat confident in my speaking abilities. I thought that if I could use that experience to my advantage, I might be able to pass the exam, so I chose that option.

Q3. What were your reasons for choosing your current faculty?
Department of Data Science in the Faculty Faculty of Business Administration offers a wide range of learning opportunities, including data analysis, software development, and business. Because I enjoy watching TV and playing games, I aspire to create such software in the future, using my business acumen to promote and gain user adoption. This unique department is why I chose to major in this field.
I think the appeal of this program is that you can learn both creative and business skills, so even if you fail in one area, there's still another path to take.

Q4. What kind of preparations did you make for the exam?
I wasn't confident in my essay writing skills for the pre-assignment, so I started writing it around the time summer vacation ended, with the help of my high school teachers. I also learned a lot about proper etiquette and manners for interviews. Since questions about the content of the statement of purpose are sometimes asked during the interview, I made sure to write it carefully and had my teachers review it.

Q5. What do you think are the best things about attending Asia University?
They teach you the fundamentals of data science and mathematics step by step, with great care. Also, Asia University has a strong focus on languages and study abroad programs, and it was great to be able to learn "real" pronunciation and phrases from native speakers.

Q6. What do you want to work on during your university life going forward?
Since my university places a strong emphasis on foreign languages, I definitely want to get a high score on the TOEIC, and I also want to acquire qualifications that will be useful when I'm looking for a job.

Q7. Please tell us about your dreams and goals for the future.
I want to use the data and business knowledge I gained at university to create a product that can help people in need, promote it effectively, and have someone actually use it. I also hope to create an app that will make life more interesting for the older generation.

I'd like to ask you in detail about exam preparation and mindset.

Q8. Do you have any recommended countermeasures?
For interview practice, I enlisted the help of not only my teachers but also my parents and friends, who checked whether my language was appropriate and whether my bowing was natural. As for interview etiquette, men bow with their hands at their sides, and women bow with their hands clasped in front of them, but because I had always been athletic, I had gotten into the habit of bowing with my hands behind my back. I received help from male teachers, female teachers, and teachers of various subjects, who asked me a variety of interview questions.
I recommend getting help from your IT teacher for the pre-assignment. The assignment was to write an essay about data science, and I really struggled to find a topic that I could write about in 800 characters, but I got help from my IT teacher after practice exams and such.

Q9. What were some of the difficulties you faced in preparing for the exam?
Although I was a humanities student, I still found writing the pre-assignment essays very difficult. I also had my statement of purpose revised multiple times. Furthermore, since I was considering taking the general entrance exam if I didn't get in through recommendation, I struggled to study for that simultaneously.

Q10. Do you have any recommended ways to change your mood?
I like watching short dramas that are about 30 minutes long; they're quick and refreshing, so I recommend them. I also like to do physical activities to change my mood, talk with friends at school, play games, and do other things I enjoy.
