What is counseling?

When you think of counseling, what image comes to mind? I often hear that people who are worried or mentally unstable receive it.

Certainly, counseling can be helpful in such cases. However, the basic idea of counseling is to "deepen self-understanding and support one's own way of being," and in Western countries, receiving counseling is seen as someone who is trying to improve themselves. It is often received positively by the people around you.

Our university's Counseling Center is also operated based on this philosophy. If you want to grow yourself, live a fulfilling life, enrich your mind, deepen your self-understanding, or find your own way of being, please feel free to use our service.

I think that for many people, university life will be their last time as a student. There, you will be able to deeply explore the studies that interest you, get involved in club and club activities, and through these activities, you will meet a variety of people and have a variety of experiences. In the process, you will often test yourself, reflect, think, and worry. It is through this process that people grow and deepen their self-understanding.

However, it is also painful at times. You may encounter situations that you cannot handle on your own. What do you do in such a case? Sometimes you may turn to your friends, sometimes to your parents or teachers, and sometimes to a book for a clue.

At Counseling Center, there are counselors who will listen to your thoughts and discuss them with you. I would like to help everyone so that they can have a rich and fulfilling student life.
