National pension insurance premium student payment special system
As a general rule, everyone aged 20 or over is required to pay national pension insurance premiums every month. However, there is a "student payment exemption system" that allows students below a certain income level to defer payment of premiums while they are enrolled upon application.
Applications can be made on paper by submitting a Student Payment Exemption Application Form and a copy of your student ID card to a pension office or the National Pension Section of your city, town or village office where you are registered as a resident, or electronically via My Number Portal.
Please note that Asia University University does not handle "proxy administration" so applications cannot be made at our university. For details on applications, please refer to the Japan Pension Service website below.
