Our university applied for confirmation of institutional requirements and was certified as a target school for the system. Under this system, students can receive support not only based on grades, but also if they meet the household income criteria and have a strong desire to learn. If you are eligible for a benefit-type scholarship, Tuition and admission fees for universities, etc. will be exempted or reduced.

You can roughly check whether you are eligible for the system by using the "School Advancement Fund Simulator" published on the website of the Japan Student Services Organization. Please use it before applying.

Reduced Tuition and exemption from admission fees

The amount of support differs between households exempted from resident tax and households subject to resident tax exemption.

Payment of benefit-type scholarships

The amount of support differs according to the category based on the income amount of the household.

Recruitment period

Applications are accepted in April and October. The schedule of the information sessions will be announced in late March and late September on the Asia-University Portal, so please be sure to attend. In addition, we will accept employment at any time due to sudden changes in household finances, so please contact us immediately if the reason arises.

2. Japan Student Services Organization

The Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) is an organization established with the aim of promoting equal opportunity in education and cultivating human resources who can contribute to the nation and society. We lend tuition to talented students who find it difficult to study due to economic reasons, and we also operate a "loan" or "benefit" business so that students can study with peace of mind in light of economic and social conditions.
The amount of the loan benefit is selected from the monthly amount determined by the year of admission and the type of commuting (commuting at home or commuting outside the home).

loan type scholarship

The interest-free Type 1 scholarship is awarded to outstanding students and pupils who are experiencing extreme difficulties in continuing their studies due to financial reasons. Applicants must meet the prescribed academic standards or have the motivation to study with the goal of becoming independent and active in society in the future. (There are no grade standards for low-income families.)

The second type of scholarship with interest has an annual interest rate of up to 3% (interest-free while enrolled). Students must have a strong desire to study. Students can freely choose the amount of the loan from 11 different monthly loan amounts (20,000, 30,000, 40,000, 50,000, 60,000, 70,000, 80,000, 90,000, 100,000, 110,000, and 120,000). Furthermore, in the case of regular (new) applications, the loan can be received retroactively up to April of the year of application. For more information, please contact Student Center Scholarship Section.

Benefit-type scholarship

In order not to give up on going to university for financial reasons, the number of eligible students for the benefit-type scholarship has expanded from students who will advance to a higher grade in April 2020. If you meet the household income criteria, you can receive support if you have a solid "willingness to learn" and not just grades. In addition, if you are eligible for a benefit-type scholarship, your university Tuition and admission fees will be exempted or reduced.

* Refers to the benefit-type scholarship of the above "1. New study support system for higher education". Please see above for details.

Both the loan type and the benefit type have a reservation application system that allows you to apply before entering university (admission). Please contact the career options guidance department of your high school or vocational school (advanced course). We also hold an information session in April. It is also possible to apply after entering the school and after advancing to the next grade (student recruitment). In addition, there is also employment for sudden changes in household finances (within 12 months of loan type, within 3 months of benefit type).
