《Results Announcement》The 2nd Asia University High School Student Asian Photo Contest
PAGE SECTIONS

From July 19th to September 26th, Asia University will host the second cultural project under the theme of "Asia is interesting" for high school students to discover the culture and customs of the Asian region up close. We held a photo contest. We received multiple submissions from individuals and Photography Club. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who applied and introduced us to this project.
This photo contest focused not only on real exchanges through overseas travel, but also on the image of "Asia" that high school students imagine in today's world, where cultural exchanges that transcend national and language boundaries have flourished due to the development of media content.

===《General review》===
While restrictions on overseas travel continue, high school students have discovered and posted their own experiences in Asia. There were many works that confirmed once again that Asia exists all around us as a traditional culture, natural environment, and spiritual pillar. I felt like my heart had become more pure. With overseas travel restrictions being eased, I'm looking forward to seeing what new works will be added next year.

<Comment of applicant's work>
These two photos were taken by me in Inner Mongolia and Dalian, China. Inner Mongolian girls wear traditional national costumes and ride horses in the grasslands. The recently opened landmark of Dalian, the Sea Bridge, shows the prosperity and beauty that a modern city should have. The coexistence of the traditional society of the era of national unification and the modern society shows the charm of Asian culture.
Commentary
The two-piece photo set of a woman in traditional costume riding a horse in Inner Mongolia and the Xinghai Bay Bridge, which has become a new tourist attraction in Dalian since its opening in 2015, effectively depicts the coexistence of "tradition and modernity" in Asia. The work perfectly matches this year's theme of ``Asia is interesting.'' The placement of the woman riding a horse and the bridge gives the photo depth, and the tones of the clouds in the meadow and the lights on the bridge at dusk are also wonderful. This work clearly conveys the charm of Asia. (Judge MIZUNO Asuka)

Commentary
This photo was praised for capturing a Japanese spring staple from a high school student's perspective. It is interesting how cherry blossoms, which have a fleeting image, are expressed through the composition and vivid colors reflected in the water. It can be said that it contrasts well with the second photo, which depicts natural cherry blossoms. (Judge TAKAYAMA Yoko)

Interesting point of view. The 3D design is well cut out as a 2D design. I think it's good that the focus is on traditional Japanese architectural design, which is part of the theme of this year's "Asia is interesting." It is a work that makes good use of photographic expression. (Special judge Takuma Suda)

commentary
Looking up at the starry sky through the torii gate and the title of "Wishes" gives me a refreshing feeling that removes the oppressive atmosphere of recent years. Also, I think it's very good to see that people can find peace of mind by offering prayers to something, regardless of what they believe. (Special judge Takuma Suda)
