Cultural Exchange at Tanashi High School

On November 28, a total of 27 international students in the Intensive Japanese Course visited Tokyo Metropolitan Tanashi High School as part of their “Japanese Affairs” class and attended a cross-cultural exchange session.
The international students split into groups of three or four and visited classes of the 1st year high school students. They first introduced themselves and gave a brief overview of the culture of their home countries. Afterward, they joined in activities that were arranged by the high school students, such as games and experiences of Japanese traditional culture.
One international student said, “I folded origami paper into a crane and heard that cranes are believed in Japan to bring good luck. I learned a lot.” Another student said, “I was nervous at first, but I had a good time talking with the high school students about campus life, Tokyo, Japanese animation and so on.”
