overview

In the Indonesian presidential election held in February 2024, the pair of presidential candidate Prabowo, a former military man who supported the Suharto dictatorship, and vice presidential candidate Ghibran, the eldest son of incumbent President Joko Widodo, won. The election, which used social media extensively, distributed food widely, and mobilized state institutions down to the grassroots level, backed by ample support from the business world, was a powerful demonstration of the democratic institutions and institutions established after democratization in 1998. This can be said to be the ``culmination'' of the Jokowi administration's 10 years of undermining norms. Let's consider the current position of Indonesian politics from the presidential election.
