May 1939 History before the establishment of Koa College
Before the Koa College was established (two years from 1939), there was the Koa Course era. He was forced to move from Nanri's residence in Gotokuji Temple in Setagaya to Harajuku, and from Harajuku to Ryugenji in Chofu. At this time, the corporation that applied to the Ministry of Education was different from the current corporation, but after the establishment of Koa Senmon Gakko, everyone transferred to the school.
The 1st and 2nd batch of students lived a life full of hardships until the establishment of Koa Senmon Gakko. This is deeply related to the history of our university.

March 1940 To the east of Tama Cemetery
In these difficult times, there were people who gave their warm support to the young men's single-minded enthusiasm. In particular, Mr. Ainosuke Iwata (later Executive Director, Board of Directors) provided constant support and encouragement. Chujiro Matsuo was one of them. Mr. Matsuo kindly provided us with the forest to the east of the Tama Cemetery, which he owned, as a new school site.
On December 8, 1939, a groundbreaking ceremony was held here, and on March 25, 1940, the new school building donated by Executive Director, Board of Directors Iwata and Nichirinsha were completed. This Nichirinsha was built by the students after visiting the Uchihara Training Center where Mr. Kanji Kato was supervising research, designing and building it themselves. All desks and chairs were made by students.

March 1942 "Concise Maraigo New Dictionary"

November 1945 School name changed to Japan Economic College
On September 25, 1945, following the end of the war, Board of Directors was held to decide on policies for the future of the university. At that time, Japanese society was undergoing a major change that had never been seen before in history, and people's minds had lost their way. In September 1949, our university published Critique of Modern Socialism (B5 size, 230 pages) written by Professor Osamu Arii, and brought it to the attention of the world.

May 1950Reorganized as Nihon Junior College of Economics
On May 4, 1950, Nihon Junior College of Economics was established with President Junzo Sasamori (former Minister of State) and chair, Board of Directors Iwao Kuwazuka. The 1st and 2nd departments of the management department and the trade department were established at the same time.
In accordance with the provisions of the Private School Law, in March 1951, our school was reorganized from the Japan Economic College into a school corporation Yuko Gakuen.
However, it was not easy to run the school on its own with a small number of enrolled students.

February 1953 Establishment of International Judo School
Yukokan (Lecture Hall and martial arts hall) was renovated to open a large dojo for judo, which was finally beginning to flourish at the time. As a result of the collection of donations, on February 25, 1953, the opening of the International Judo School's dojo was held with the presence of instructors such as Chugo Sato 7th dan, Hiko Kurata 8th dan, and Kiyo Takagi 28th dan. . Youths carrying judo uniforms began to arrive in groups of threes, and eventually foreigners joined in, along with students from our university.

January 1954 Establishment of Chinese Student Course attached to Nihon Junior College of Economics

April 1955 Establishment Asia University Faculty of Commerce established
On May 7, 1954, Director, Board of Directors Kozo Ota assumed the post of President and chair, Board of Directors. At this time, Yuko Gakuen was renamed to Asia Educational Incorporative, and two weeks later, on May 20, Board of Directors passed a resolution to establish Asia University.
After overcoming various issues such as faculty organization and facility development, the establishment of Asia University Faculty of Commerce Department of Commerce was approved on March 30, 1955. At the same time, Nihon Junior College of Economics decided to abolish the First Department of Business Administration, the Trade Department, and the Second Department of Trade, leaving only the Second Department of Business Administration.

February 1957 Completion of the former main building, a three-story reinforced concrete structure
On February 28, 1957, the long-awaited main building (three-story reinforced concrete building) was completed. At the same time, Front Gate, which had traditionally consisted of stacking three concrete water pipes for fire prevention and plastering them with concrete to replace the gateposts, was replaced with a one-piece granite gatepost by chair, Board of Directors Keita Goto. November 1959 School Festival ""ASIA-SAI" Annual Student Festival "
Until then, it was held as "Nikkei Junior College Festival", but after the approval of Asia University, it was called "Gakuensai" after Asia Educational Incorporative. In 1959, the Executive Committee Student’s Association held a public competition for a name to realize a large-scale university festival, and as a result, the name ""ASIA-SAI" Annual Student Festival" was born.

April 1964 Establishment of faculties and enhancement of facilities

October 1966 Won the First League Baseball League at Tohto University

December 1968 Asian Highway Academic Exploration
Enthusiasm for Asian research grew among the students, and in February 1962, the Southwest Asia Academic Expedition Team left for India. This preceded the 1st and 2nd Asian Highway Expedition in 1943 and 1945.
Furthermore, in November 1939, a five-member Borneo Academic Expedition was launched.

May 1969 Freshman Orientation Camp
The Freshman Orientation Camp (FOC) was planned at the request of Student’s Association to help new students get used to university life and understand the university's founding spirit as soon as possible. In May 1969, the first FOC was held at Iwai Kaigan in Chiba Prefecture for the undergraduate and at Mt. Tama Ontake for the junior college. A total of 330 people participated in the one-night, two-day event. After that, it became a university-wide event at Lake Yamanaka.
This was the beginning of the current “Encounter Square”.

June 1969 Issued university public relations paper "THE ASIA"
There was a time when radical student movements and storms of university disputes swept over universities throughout Japan. It was a political movement that sought to fundamentally change the system of Japanese society. Concerned about this student movement, President Ota expressed his convictions in the title of "Basic Policy on University Issues" at the university-wide full-time faculty meeting on May 31, 1969.
This was the basis for the university's steadfast stance, never canceling classes due to conflict, and adhering to the original purpose of the university: education and research. In order to publicize the university's stance, the public relations magazine "THE ASIA" (currently "Koho Asia") has been published.

August 1969 “YOJO-DAIGAKU” Overseas Study Program sponsored by Student’s Association
In August 1969, the first “YOJO-DAIGAKU” Overseas Study Program was held. “YOJO-DAIGAKU” Overseas Study Program is an overseas training program in which students decide on a country to which they are sent and a training theme related to that country. As this was the first project, the actual implementation was in doubt, but two faculty members and 40 students traveled to Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore for 12 days for training after careful preparation. Since then, it has been held every year.
Since then, overseas training has become even more active, and Student’s Association 's programs included a Korean training group, a ROC training group, and an American language training group, in addition to “YOJO-DAIGAKU” Overseas Study Program.

In April 1976 Department of International Relations was established in the Faculty Faculty of Economics, and the doctoral course was established in Graduate School.

March 1989 Asia University America Program started
In late March 1989, 556 students left for the 1st AUAP (Asia University America Program) (AUAP) to study at four universities in the United States. In November 1993 Asia University Women's Lawn Tennis Club won the All-Japan Collegiate Tennis Championship Match for the first time.

March 1994Completion of Kozo Ota Memorial Hall
The construction of the new Kozo Ota Memorial Hall, which was carried out as part of the 50th anniversary project, was successfully completed, and the completion ceremony was held on March 30, 1994.

One of the winning members, Susumu Teramoto, has participated in the Asian Games since his graduation, played in a professional league in Thailand, and contributed to the promotion and development of the sport. He was awarded the 8th AJPS AWARD 2014 as the most brilliant person of 2014 recommended by the Japan Sports Press Association.

October 1999 Taiwan Earthquake Relief Volunteer Corps
On September 21, 1999, an unprecedented earthquake struck Taiwan. We have deep ties with Taiwan, including exchanges with Tamkang University, with which we concluded an academic and cultural exchange agreement in 1977, as well as more than 1,000 graduates and many International Student enrolled.
Students, faculty and staff themselves formed the "Taiwan Earthquake Relief Volunteer Corps", and a total of 135 people, up to the third group, engaged in volunteer activities on site for one week each.
