Our mission statement: Collaboration based on self-reliance
Collaboration based on self-reliance
“A man should rely on oneself,
for the self can provide the best assistance,
and self-reliance leads to independence.”

and self-reliance leads to independence.”
Kozo Ota
The First President of Asia University

The university's first president, Kozo Ota, commented on the school's founding mission of self-reliance in his book, stating,“A man should rely on oneself, for the self can provide the best assistance,” and, “self-reliance leads to independence.”
You could say that self-reliance refers to each individual looking deep within to find their own identity and then carving out their own paths.
President Ota also believed that "The flowers of cooperation grow from roots of self-reliance," emphasizing that true cooperation is exemplified by relationships between self-reliant individuals who come together.
Asia University was founded in 1955 and President Ota's founding mission was for the school to cultivate honest individuals in line with this spirit of self-reliance, establish plans for an independent, free, and harmonious Asia in the future, actively conduct cultural and economic exchanges, and contribute to the rise of a free Asia.
In this age of globalization, we are working to spread these founding ideals from Asia to the world, and Asia University will continue to grow and improve to achieve this mission, creating a learning environment that meets the needs of the times.
