Contemporary Sociology

Society is formed by the relationship between people. Everything from personal relationships to social phenomena to global conflicts is a research of sociology. Knowledge of sociology and social research methods is the power to search for a better society. It is recommended for students who want to explore as their curiosity takes them and want to acquire a multifaceted perspective.

We have set up three courses that allow students to acquire sociology from the basics and deepen their specialized knowledge and research on topics of interest. In classes such as "Social Survey Methods" and "Innovation Theory," students apply the knowledge they have learned to solve problems in their own way, developing practical skills. We also offer a number of courses that take students beyond the campus and allow them to learn about the realities of society, such as classes in collaboration with the neighboring cities of Musashino and Mitaka.

Among the three courses, the one that tackles entertainment and culture head-on, such as anime, art, and theme parks, and explores their relevance to society, is unique to Asia University. The course has faculty members who have worked in entertainment-related companies, such as game production companies, who support students' learning.
