About local classes

Students will learn in original classes organized exclusively by Aoyama Gakuin University students. Classes Small Class Size with no more than 25 students, and are held five days a week, Monday through Friday, for three hours a day. Classes are further divided into levels according to English ability, so students can take classes that are suited to their English ability.

At both universities, all faculty members are native speakers with teaching experience and qualifications to teach English to non-native speakers. Local students also participate in all classes as "Classroom Volunteers" to provide support, so students can take classes with peace of mind. In addition to exams, students are evaluated on a variety of aspects, including assignments, class participation, attendance, and attitude toward class.

You can earn up to 20 Credit while studying abroad, allowing you to graduate from university in four years without having to take a leave of absence.
*For details, please refer to the "Course Registration Guide" of each faculty.

Improving English skills

Improve your TOEIC® score!

AUAP students take the TOEIC® test before they leave and before they return home, allowing them to objectively assess the progress of their English skills. By being exposed to native English speakers in the local area, students steadily improve their English language skills. There is also a system in place that provides scholarships to students with high TOEIC® scores.

Support at study abroad

AUAP does not have a chaperone from Japan. After arriving in the United States, local people take care of the participants, and they immediately begin living in English. In addition to the program director and coordinator, American assistant students (IPAs = International Peer Advisors) who work closely with AUAP students and act as advisors on studies and daily life, provide information necessary for university life from a fellow student's perspective.
