What are SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)?
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) refer to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015 as the successor to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) established in 2001. It is an international goal aiming for a sustainable and better world by 2030. Consisting of 17 goals and 169 targets, it pledges to “leave no one behind” on earth. The SDGs are universal, not only for developing countries, but also for developed countries themselves, and Japan is also actively working on them.Initiative example
- SDGs mock class held for junior and senior high school students
-
On June 16th, we held an SDGs mock class for high school students. On the day, 40 students from Urawa Jitsugyo High School participated, and Associate Professor KOBARI Yoshihiro of Faculty of International Relations gave Lecture on the theme of ``Language research in the Philippines - From the Perspective of SDGs.''
Since the Philippines was under colonial rule in the past, the influence of other countries is strongly reflected in the country's culture and other aspects. I'm here.
In addition, the fact that English is the official language of the Philippines is also being used in business, and the host of English study abroad and online English Lecturer are established as an industry. The number of people from Japan going to the Philippines to study abroad is increasing, and it is not uncommon for countries where English is not the native language to connect with each other through English.
Learning languages is a very important factor from the perspective of SDGs, and learning many languages will help solve educational inequalities, inequalities between people and countries, and solve poverty caused by learning disparities. It also leads toPast implementation results
